Position Summary
The Cultural Path to Wellness Assistant/Intern supports program activities, cultural events, administrative functions, and community engagement efforts. This position provides hands-on experience in program coordination, data management, event planning, and office organization while assisting staff in promoting wellness through cultural practices and community-based activities.
Supervisory Relationship
The Cultural Wellness Assistant operates under the administrative direction of the Cultural Wellness Manager. The position collaborates with clinical staff, outreach personnel, tribal departments, and community partners to promote and provide Community based activities that promote wellness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Organizing program materials, supplies, and equipment
- Conducting inventory of program resources and maintaining inventory records
- Assisting with planning, coordination, and implementation of cultural and wellness events
- Event setup and cleanup before, during, and after activities
- Collecting participant data, surveys, sign-in sheets, and evaluation information
- Entering data into electronic databases and tracking systems
- Filing and maintaining program records and documentation
- Assisting with community outreach and participant engagement
- Preparing materials for workshops, classes, and events
- Supporting staff with administrative and clerical tasks
- Assisting at occasional evening and weekend events as needed
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of participant information
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Performing other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and data entry
Preferred Qualifications - Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Interest in cultural wellness, community health, and event coordination
- Willingness to work occasional weekends
Licenses and Certifications
Valid California Driver's License required, and a clear driving records in compliance with the Hoopa Valley Tribe’s Motor Vehicle Operator’s Policy.
Current CPR required or obtained within six months.
Conditions of Employment
Employees are subject to the Hoopa Valley Tribe Drug and Alcohol Fit for Duty Policy, Title 21, Drug-Free Workplace requirements, Title 30A Employment Background Investigation requirements, verification of credentials, a 90-day introductory period, and periodic evaluations.
Indian Preference shall apply pursuant to the Hoopa Valley Tribe TERO Ordinance, Title 13 and applicable law.
