SUMMARY: The Diabetes Center Assistant/Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients and community members, providing courteous, culturally responsive, and confidential front-desk support for the Diabetes Program. This role is responsible for scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, maintaining accurate records, and supporting care coordination activities. This position plays a vital role in ensuring smooth clinic operations, patient access to services, and a welcoming environment that supports chronic disease management, prevention, and community wellness within a rural tribal health setting.
JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Greets all participants with friendly positive attitude
- Helps with coordinating appointments, utilizing various electronic medical records and scheduling systems to ensure thorough communication across multiple disciplines.
- Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with complete confidentiality and security.
- Monitor the Wellness gym to ensure participants sign in before using facility.
- Observe participant activity to promote safe use of equipment and report any safety concerns equipment issues or unusual incidents to the manager promptly.
- Attend trainings as needed to assist with compliance and quality initiatives.
- Ability to efficiently communicate with medical staff, patients, and co-workers.
- Ability to ensure patient confidence and comfort.
- Provide administrative support to the diabetes center manager, including scheduling filing copying and data entry.
- Prepare reports, charts and summaries using excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
- Assist in coordinating workshops, group lessons and center events.
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, correspondence, memorandums, and scheduling forms.
- Culturally competent, knowledgeable of local Tribes, and their services.
- Demonstrate initiative and ability to make independent judgments.
- Comfort with computerized documentation systems (Word, Excel, web-based applications and e-mail accounts)
- Willingness to be flexible with work schedule.
- Ability to perform a variety of duties dealing with people, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composer.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Must have high school diploma and/or GED.
- Advanced degrees and/or certifications given preference.
- Licensure/Certification: Basic Life Support (or obtain within the probationary period)
- Experience: Exhibit strong customer service skills and ability to stay organized and maintain attention to detail.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employment with K’ima:w Medical Center in contingent upon adherence to all applicable policies and regulations, including:

Compliance with Title 21, the Hoopa Valley Tribe’s Drug and Alcohol Policy, and the Drug Free Workplace Act.

Successful Completion of Title 30A Background Check process.

Compliance with Title 13 the Hoopa Valley Tribe’s Employment Rights Ordinance.
