SUMMARY: The Director of Nursing provides operational supervision and ongoing support to staff in the Medical Clinic. Assists with support for the Mobile Clinic. Coordinates primary care teams and supervises all clinic-based primary care support staff. Provides day-to-day oversight and management of systems, workflows and operations.
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervisor Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and support the clinical and ancillary clinic team to ensure high-quality health services.
- Assign tasks, monitor workloads, complete time records, and ensure efficient daily operations.
- Conduct team meetings, training sessions, and performance evaluations.
- Provide guidance on patient care coordination to ensure smooth daily operations.

The Director of Nursing may also present to the community health issues to include items such as diabetic foot care, understanding hypertension and importance of diet and nutrition.
JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS & ABILITIES:

- Provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients.
- Of the Principles of growth and development.
- To assess and interpret data about the patient’s status to identify each patients needs and provide the appropriate care needed by KMC’s Life Stage Patient Groups. (Life Stage Patient Groups are defined as infants, toddlers, preschool children, school age children, adolescents, young adults, middle-aged adults, and late-stage older adults).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to develop positive relationships with staff.
- Knowledge and experience with insurance carriers including facility and medical record audits, with up-to-date knowledge of HER preferably RPMS and/or Epic.
- Develops procedures in conjunction with staff and CCO/CMO.
- Knowledge of Hoopa community, cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Demonstrate ability to teach and audit various discipline charting responsibilities.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing and demonstrate a high level of listening skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player.
- Demonstrated commitment to the provision of primary care services for the underserved and sensitivity working with a variety of people from low-income populations, with diverse educational, lifestyle, ethnic, and cultural origins; disabled, homeless, substance users, and/or physiologically impaired.

- Adherence to infection control procedures, including but not limited to, standard precautions, temperature monitoring, hand washing, symptom self-monitoring, masking and social distancing.

- Capable of problem solving and managing staff in outpatient or related health care setting.

Essential Responsibilities
- Supports the development and implementation of Primary Care Teams and supports all K’ima:w staff.
- Facilitates smooth operations and communications between all K’ima:w departments and staff.
- Develops appropriate organizational structure(s) and weekly staffing schedules and maintains master calendar.
- Oversees daily operations, including patient and workflow, resolves problems, seeking support from CCO as needed.
- Liaison between the Clinic and Administrative services.
- Addresses patient complaints and grievances.
- Develops procedures in conjunction with staff and CCO/CMO.
- Builds and maintains relationships with community partners
- Additional duties, as assigned by CCO/CMO.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma,
A graduate of an accredited nursing program with associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) preferred.
Three years health center management experience in an outpatient or related health care setting. Direct experience in the provision of medical clinic services while supervising up to 15 employees and providing support to medical providers.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Current CPR and ACLS certification
- Valid California Driver's License
- California Registered Nurse License
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Employee is subject to Drug & Alcohol Testing per the Hoopa Tribal Drug & Alcohol Fit for Duty Policy, Title 21 and the Drug Free Workplace Act. Employee will serve a 90-day introductory period. Employee is subject to introductory and annual performance evaluations. Preference will be given to qualified Indian applicants pursuant to the Tribe's TERO Ordinance, Title 13.
CURRENT & ANNUAL TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: At a minimum Employee is required to be certified for CPR, Health Stream, Personnel Policies, Director of Nursing Skills Check off List.
