SUMMARY: The Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) Driver is responsible for safe, dependable, and professional transportation, set-up, and operations of the clinic’s mobile medical unit. This position supports patient access to care by ensuring the mobile unit is delivered, maintained, and operated in compliance with safety, regulatory, and clinical support requirements.
FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safely operate the Mobile Medical Unit.
- Drive vehicle to and from destinations, safely store vehicle(s), and deployment of vehicle.
- Must be able to maneuver in tight areas and have experience with large (bus size) vehicles.
- Maintain basic vehicle upkeep such as checking Oil, Coolant, tire pressure, washing vehicle, etc.
- Maintain basic generator up-keep such as checking oil, coolant, and frequent monitoring.
- Maintain basic MMU functions such as air conditioner, hydraulics, and power.
- Maintain and facilitate water tank filling and waste dumping.
- Set up and break down mobile clinic.
- Must be able to troubleshoot unexpected issues or contact personnel for assistance if issue cannot be resolved.
- Coordinate planning, maintain compliance and documentation.
- Able to follow directions and operational checklist.
- Must be able to manage basic functions such as scheduling, housekeeping, fuel receipts, maintenance schedule, etc.
- Must be flexible, Schedule may require some weekends.

- Demonstrated ability to prioritize responsibilities.
- Knowledge of Hoopa community, cultural awareness, and sensitivity.
- Demonstrated ability to perform all driving and set-up/take down responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to perform all functions and responsibilities as stated above.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
2-4 years’ experience in operating large vehicles.
Basic computer skills including email, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics etc.
Class A License Highly Preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current CPR Certificate
Valid California Driver’s License, Class A Highly preferred.
Clean Driving Record, and insurable according to the Hoopa Valley Tribe’s Vehicle Operating Policy.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Employees are subject to Drug and Alcohol Testing in accordance with Title 21, Drug & Alcohol Ordinance of the Hoopa Valley Tribe, and the Drug Free Workplace Act.
- Preference in hiring shall be given to qualified Indian Applicants pursuant to the Tribe’s Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance, Title 13.
- All employees must successfully complete and pass an employment background investigation in compliance with Title 30A – Employment Back Check Ordinance.
- Employees are subject to a 90-day introductory period, and on-going performance evaluations in accordance with K’ima:w Medical Center personnel Policies and applicable law.
