Summary: Employee will work with establishing positive public engagement for K’ima:w Medical Center; including updating social media pages and writing articles for local publications. Perform other duties and special projects as necessary for the Administration.
Functions & Responsibilities:
- Public Relations
- Advocates implementation and evaluation of public activities.
- Prepares effective, comprehensive public relations programs
- Advocates programs with Indian Health Services.
- Demonstrates effective knowledge of Tribal Leadership and the workings of local, municipal and state government.
- Demonstrates effective knowledge of print, electronic and Internet media, particularly those that impact activities.
- Writes effectively for various media as required.
- Ensures personal compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Keeps work area and files neat, clean and orderly.
- Works harmoniously with fellow employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Planning programs continued with tribal council goals and objectives.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with issues in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2 years minimum required experience in writing/editorial and public relations or a relevant field.
- Preferred any Public Communications Dispatch certifications
- Preferred any Public Information Awareness certifications
Certificates, License, Registrations: Current CPR certificate.
Confidentiality: Employee must be aware of and adhere to K’ima:w Medical Center’s confidentiality policy and deal appropriately with patient confidentiality at all times.
Conditions of Employment: Employee is subject to baseline and random drug testing per the Hoopa Tribal Drug and Alcohol Fit for Duty Policy. Employee will serve a 90 day introductory period. Employee is subject to introductory and semiannual performance evaluations. Preference will be given to qualified Indian applicants pursuant to the Tribe’s TERO Ordinance.
