GOALS FOR POSITION: Specify goals for current year (goals are updated yearly).
SUMMARY: Protects employees, visitors and patients from harm and guards medical center property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry by performing the following duties.
FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Patrols, periodically, buildings and grounds of medical center.
- Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.
- Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
- Inspects equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred.
- Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
- Observes departing personnel to guard against theft of medical center property.
- Sounds alarm or calls police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
- Maintains security logs, recording time of inspection trips.
- Prepares incident/accident reports.
- Records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment, for sue of supervisory staff.
- Regulates vehicle and pedestrian traffic at medical center entrances to maintain orderly flow.
- Assists visitors, patients and employees with problems, responds to medical center codes for possible restraint.
- Assures that employees and visitors wear the proper identification badges at all times. Verifies (by ID) clearance to enter authorized areas. Escorts unauthorized persons from limited access areas. Issues and logs visitor badges.
- Maintains a lost and found log. Takes lost property to lost and found.
- Coordinates activities of personnel in revising or updating security measures due to changes in regulations.
- Pick up any visible trash and cigarette butts from parking area.
- Wash exterior windows
- Clean exterior wall's on buildings.
- Clean cob webs from exterior of buildings.
- Sweep walkways.
- Other Duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS & ABILITIES: Demonstrated knowledge of maintaining and managing security files and records.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Must have a high school diploma or GED or one to three months related security experience and/or training.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Current CPR Certificate
- Valid California Drivers License
- Security Certificate preferred
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CONFIDENTIALITY: Employee must be aware of and adhere to Ki'ma:w Medical Center's Confidentiality Policy and deal appropriately with patient confidentiality at all times.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Employee is subject to baseline and random drug testing per the Hoopa Tribal Drug & alcohol Fit for Duty Policy. Employee will serve a 90 day introductory period. Employee is subject to introductory and semiannual performance evaluations. Preference will be given to qualified Indian applicants pursuant to the Tribe’s TERO Ordinance.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
