SUMMARY:  The Primary duty of this position is to transport K'ima:w Medical Center clients to local health care services, i.e.  Medical, Dental, and Social Service appointments.   Transport to the Eureka/Arcata area, Redding, Sacramento, and San Francisco areas may be included.  Knowledge of appropriate body mechanics in assisting with safe client transfers into and from a standard sedan vehicle as well as a handicapped access vehicle (transport van), is helpful but not required.  Ability to understand the client's compromised health status is required and may be required to act as a client advocate in the absence of family.  Additional duties for this position may include coordinating the staff schedule and assignments, assisting the manager with policy and procedure development, functioning as the supervisor when the during the manager's absence, and assisting with quality improvement activities.

JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to change a vehicle tire.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of defensive driving.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform processes in the delivery of care to specific age groups.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or
  • one to three months related experience and/or training. Must maintain a valid California Driver's License and be cleared for a GSA License.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

 

  • Valid California Drivers License and be insurable.
  • Current CPR Certificate
