Job Title: Van Driver

SUMMARY: Responsible for the transportation of seniors to and from congregate meals at the Senior Nutrition Center (SNC) site and for home-delivered meals. Cleans and maintains SNC in a sanitary, orderly, and attractive condition. Moves furniture, equipment and supplies, in and around SNC site and storage; and performs a variety of environmental service duties to maintain the SNC facilities in a neat, orderly, and sanitary condition.
FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Transport participants to and from program, and occasional out of area field trips (after regular work hours and weekends), and of home delivery meals to individual homes.
- Complete transportation report daily including mileage.
- Is responsible to assure that all vehicle maintenance is done in a timely and safe manner.
- Is responsible for maintenance logs and vehicle service records.
- Be responsible for passenger safety and comfort.
- Maintain grounds inside fence surrounding Nutrition building.
- Haul trash from Nutrition site as needed.
- Must have completed or will complete course in first aid and/or CPR.
- Checking and recording temperatures of home delivered meals.
- Complete quarterly assessments. Complete nutrition screen, ADL, IADL annually on all Title III C-2 participants.
- Wash exterior windows.
- Empty waste baskets, remove trash from offices.
- Water exterior and interior plants.
- Vacuum clinic, office, and other SNC buildings or storage.
- Replenish room supplies paper towels and toilet paper.
- Clean restrooms, including floors, walls, toilets, sinks and mirrors.
- Clean exterior walls on buildings.
- Clean cob webs from interior and exterior of buildings.
- Sweep walkways.
- Wash SNC and ancillary room doors.
- Clean up cigarette butts from surrounding areas.
- Straighten brochures and magazines.
- Spray air freshener/disinfectant.
- Keep picnic area, tables, and benches clean.
- Transport trash and hazardous materials to disposal locations.
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Must have outgoing personality.
- Must be able to communicate with and enjoy being around and assisting elderly people.
- Must be familiar with the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation roads and residential locations.
- Must meet all driving requirements for transporting patients.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Current CPR certificate; valid California driver’s license.
