GOALS FOR POSITION: Greet and direct public at the Wellness Building. Primary operator for KMC’s 8x8 telephone system.
SUMMARY: Greets members of the public. Contacts the departments located in the Wellness Building to advise them of visitors. Operates the 8x8 telephone system to relay incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls. The incumbent will perform clerical, ordering, dispatching, and duties as assigned.
FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greets members of the public and helps direct them to departments (particularly within the Wellness Building).
- Operates 8x8 telephone system.
- Must be able to multitask.
- Takes and relays messages utilizing the paging system as required.
- Performs clerical duties such as typing and duplicating, must have knowledge of scanner/office equip. (copy machine/fax/printer/mail machine.)
- Ensures supplies are ordered and in stock for Wellness Building (including Board Room), Coffee/Tea bar, and office equipment.
- Operates computer terminal to input and retrieve data.
- May provide backup support to KMC Operator.
- May dispatch transporters to deliver patients to and from KMC.
- May assist other departments within the Wellness Building.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

JOINT COMMISSION RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for helping to prepare, achieve, and maintain accreditation by the Joint Commission. Individual employees are directly involved in the generation or modification of policies & procedures that enable KMC to provide continuously improving healthcare.

JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Proficient skills in operation of computer, calculator, and other office equipment.
- Basic knowledge of computers, servers, and terminals.
- Knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and common technology (EMAIL, SCAN).
- Pleasant voice tone/verbiage
- Possess good listening skills
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the Hoopa Valley Tribe. Personal Vehicle must also be cleared.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Must have a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of six months of experience using a multi-line telephone system.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CONFIDENTIALITY: Employee must be aware of and adhere to Ki'ma:w Medical Center's Confidentiality Policy and deal appropriately with patient confidentiality at all times.
